A Year Review of 2018

Everyone is waiting for the best moment, which is nothing but the birth of 2019. These few days around New Year, when everyone feels special and preparing for the upcoming year, it’s time to look back what we have experienced during the last 12 months. We may have crossed many hurdles and experienced both good and bad situations.

We all heard about Sheep Cloning which is something called “Dolly the Sheep”. In the act of remembering the same, researchers from China reported that they have cloned 2 monkeys using the same technology which was used for Dolly the Sheep.

Aircel, one of the major private telecom operators has been started shutting down its operations in various circles (Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh) on January 30. The company quits its operation due to financial problems so users of Aircel operators started to port their numbers after facing network issues.

The violators for the first and second time have to give a fine of Rs 5,000 and 10,000 and the third time violators have to face a penalty of Rs 25,000 and three months in prison.

In Women’s T20 Asia Cup Tournament that took place this year June, Indian Captain, Mithali Raj scored 2,000 runs in T20I and became the first Indian Cricketer to score this figure run.

Dipa Karmakar Became the First Indian Gymnast to Schieve Gold at a Global event

During the FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Challenge Cup, Dipa Karmakar clinches the Gold medal for her outstanding performance. She set a record of achieving Gold and become the first Indian gymnast to win gold. She won the title after steeping to the court after two years. Rifda Irfanaluthfi from Indonesia stood second position and a local participant, Goksu Uctas Sanli came third winning silver and bronze respectively.

Sonam Wangchuk and Bharat Vaswani achieved the Ramon Magsaysay Award

This year, six members received the Ramon Magsaysay Award which is famously dubbed the Nobel Prize of Asia. In that six members, two awards were bagged by Indians named Sonam Wangchuk and Bharat Vaswani. Sonam Wangchuk won this award for being the inspiration behind the character played by Aamir Khan in a movie titled 3 idiots, which has improved the lives of many youths in Ladakh. Whereas, Bharat Vaswani received the award for his outstanding work towards mentally-ill people of the street.

This year, during the International Cup, Indian football team captain Sunil Chhetri scored a goal and made India win the match with a 3-0 score. Till now, his total goals are 64 which make him the third highest scorer in the world after Cristiano Ronaldo (85) and Lionel Messi (65).
